Courtney Love targets Billy Corgan beef: 'We're older. Get over it'

Courtney Love squashed her long-running beef with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic at Nirvana's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction and set about "making amends" with the Foo Fighter earlier this year. Now she's eager to settle another: Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan. "The only person I'm concerned about is Corgan," she recently told Paper about her personal relationships with other rockers. "I'm like, 'What is your problem?'"

Courtney Love on Dave Grohl: 'It's Time to Make Amends'

Love's manager attempted to end the interview after she brought up Corgan, but the former Hole leader insisted it continue. "I just wish he'd mellow out," Love said. "That's all. We're older. Get over it." After that, the interview ended.

Love and Corgan dated prior to her relationship with and eventual marriage to Kurt Cobain, and they reportedly dated again after his death. Additionally, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman has songwriting credits on five songs on Hole's 1998 album, "Celebrity Skin," and four on their 2010 LP, "Nobody's Daughter."

In 1998, Corgan told Rolling Stone that the inclusion of his songs on "Celebrity Skin" left a "bad taste in [his] mouth." Love later said that the pair resolved their differences, though she maintained some sharp words for him. "Billy does not have a majority of publishing percentage on any one of those songs," she told USA Today at the time. "I feel it's silly and somewhat sexist to credit Billy Corgan with things Billy Corgan did not do based on the assumption that accomplished male musicians are somehow superior to accomplished female musicians, such as myself."

In 2010, the onetime couple carried on a bitter back-and-forth on Twitter when Corgan accused Love of using his contributions to the latter record without his permission. "If you can't write your own songs, maybe you should just be happy that you fooled someone into doing your work for you," he tweeted, among other volleys, including an allegation that she's living off Cobain's money. Additionally, Corgan told Rolling Stone at the time, "I have no interest in supporting her in any way, shape or form. You can't throw enough things down the abyss with a person like that."

Love is currently working on her autobiography and has said she will cover her relationships with Corgan, Cobain and Trent Reznor in it. A release date has yet to be announced.

Elsewhere in her Paper interview, Love reinforced her desire to reunite the "Celebrity Skin"–era lineup of Hole. She hoped the band would be able to work together again in 2015, after she clears her schedule of other commitments. "It's more important for me to act right now than to play rock & roll," she said. "Me and Melissa [Auf der Maur] and Patty [Schemel] and Eric [Erlandson] have rehearsed a few times. In order to pull that off, we'd have to make some music that's relevant to now, and we'd have to get a modern producer. I'm not going to do the oldies circuit."
