Jason Aldean has a new album coming next month

Country singer Jason Aldean headlines Country Thunder USA on July 27 , in Twin Lakes, Wis.

Country singer Jason Aldean with release his sixth studio album, Old Boots, New Dirt, on Oct. 7.

The two-time Academy of Country Music male vocalist of the year announced the album viaBuzzFeed Monday night and plans a second event with the site tonight at 8 ET.

"With this new album, it's definitely the same old me," Aldean says via a news release. "But I like to mix things up and try new sounds and go into territory I've never explored before, so I do a little bit of that too. That's why I named the album Old Boots, New Dirt.

"I'm almost 10 years into this crazy ride, but in a lot of ways, I feel like I'm just gettin' started. I think my fans have come to expect some surprises from me, and we've got another big one comin' tonight. You'll have to pay attention or you could miss it in a flash."

Aldean recorded the album with longtime producers Michael Knox and members of his touring band. First single Burnin' It Down is currently No. 12 on the USA TODAY Country airplay chart and has sold 582,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Aldean, who made his debut in 2005 with the single Hicktown, has sold more than 9 million albums and has had chart-topping hits with songs like Dirt Road Anthem andDon't You Wanna Stay, a duet with Kelly Clarkson. The Recording Industry Association of America recently recognized him as the top-selling male country artist of the digital era, with more than 21 million downloads. He's on his Burn It Down 2014 Tour through the end of October, playing PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, N.C., Friday.
