Suge Knight Shot at Chris Brown's Pre-VMA Party

Suge Knight was shot during a pre-VMA part on Sunday, August 24th

Update: Suge Knight's family issued a statement regarding the shooting to Revolt: "The family of Suge Knight ask that you keep Suge in your prayers and to stray away from the negativity portrayed by the media. Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he's human. He's done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you  respect that."
The Associated Press reports that the two other people injured in the shooting, a man and a woman, were both expected to survive.
Chaos broke out at a pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown early Sunday morning as shots were fired inside a West Hollywood nightclub. TMZ reports that Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight was shot six times in the incident. He was taken to a hospital for surgery and is expected to recover.
As Us Weekly reports, two gunshots were initially fired at 1:35 a.m. in the 1Oak nightclub. Security helped Chris Brown and his table exit while many others in the crowd fled. At 1:50 a.m., police rushed into the club and forced the remaining guests to leave with their hands in the air.
"People were screaming and yelling and most ran out immediately," a witness to the scene told Us Weekly. "The floor was covered with glass from everyone dropping their drinks."
According to TMZ, Knight was one of three people hit by the gunfire. At least one of the other victims is in critical condition. Knight was shot in the stomach and arm, but was able to walk out of the club on his own, and family sources tell TMZ that he is now out of surgery and in intensive care.
In 2005, Knight was shot during another pre-VMA party hosted by Kanye West. In that incident, he was struck in the leg when a shooter opened fire in the VIP room of the Shore Club hotel in Miami.
On Sunday morning, Brown appeared to respond to the melee on Twitter. "It's disappointing that we as a society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes," he wrote. "Miss me with the bullshit!!!" A representative for Chris Brown was not immediately available for comment, nor was a representative for 1Oak. A spokesperson for MTV clarified that the network had no affiliation with Saturday's event.
