It looks as if Metallica will go another year without releasing a new album, but the band has a nice consolation to fans. Recordings of all 27 shows played by the band in 2014 will be released in an expansive new box set.
That includes Metallica’s inaugural headlining set at Glastonbury and their acoustic benefit concert for MusicCares, which featured covers of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Diary of a Madman”, The Beatles’ “In My Life”, and Deep Purple’s “When a Blind Man Cries”. The other 25 shows were part of the band’s “By Request Tour,” which featured setlists handpicked by fans.
The box set is priced at $417.00 and will be released in December. Pre-orders are now ongoing through Metallica’s website.
All 27 shows will also be released individually in standalone CD and digital formats beginning September 23rd. Select shows will also be released on limited-edition 180-gram vinyl in early 2015.
