Gene Simmons Tells Women To 'Stop Depending On Men'

Former Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, who rose to fame in one of the most misogynist musical movements of recent times, wants to give women some advice on how to live their lives.

"Stop depending on men."

Simmons was speaking on Fox News' 'Trending With Tantaros' to promote his new book, Me, Inc.: Build an Army of One, Unleash Your Inner Rock God, Win in Life and Business.

One section of his new tome discusses how women have to choose between establishing a career and starting a family.

When asked about this he said: "Women should assume men will abandon them and thus devote their early lives to making money to support themselves.

"This is a very complex and difficult question to answer so I’m going to put it as simply as possible. Women: Stop depending on men.

"It’s as simple as that. Imagine there are no men in life. Find out that thing that you’re good for that makes the money and then get married and or have children from a position of strength."

Simmons is no stranger to the odd questionable remark.

During an interview with Songfacts, the singer suggested he had no sympathy for those suffering from mental health issues.

He said: “…for a putz 20-year-old kid to say, ‘I’m depressed, I live in Seattle. Fuck you, then kill yourself'.”

In the piece published on 31 July, he went on to say: “I never understand, because I always call them on their bluff. I’m the guy who says ‘Jump!’ when there’s a guy on top of a building who says, ‘That’s it, I can’t take anymore, I’m going to jump’.

“Are you kidding? Why are you even announcing it? Shut the fuck up, have some dignity and jump! You’ve got the crowd.

“By the way, you walk up to the same guy on a ledge who threatens to jump and put a gun to his head, ‘I’m going to blow your fuckin’ head off!’ He’ll go ‘Please don’t’. It’s true. He’s not that insane.”

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx called Simmons’s comments “pretty moronic” on his Sixx Sense radio show.
