Watch Beck Cover George Harrison’s ‘Wah-Wah’ on ‘Conan’

As we previously reported, ‘Conan‘ is paying tribute to George Harrison this week with a series of all-star musical performances — and Beck got things started on Monday with a rousing rendition of ‘Wah-Wah.’

You can watch the performance above, and compare this version to Harrison’s 1970 original while marveling at Beck’s resplendently red Hawaiian shirt. He’ll be followed throughout the rest of the week with special appearances from Paul Simon, Norah Jones and Harrison’s son Dhani.

The show’s George Harrison Week celebration is timed to coincide with the release of the new eight-disc box ‘The Apple Years 1968-75,’ which bundles the former Beatle‘s first six solo releases into a collector’s package that also includes a DVD featuring videos and documentary footage. ‘The Apple Years’ is out and available for purchase now.

After ‘Conan’ is finished paying tribute, another crowd of famous Harrison acolytes is scheduled to gather at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on Sept. 28 for George Fest: A Night to Celebrate the Music of George Harrison, a concert featuring appearances from Jones and Dhani Harrison as well as Brian Wilson, Flaming Lips‘ Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd, Heart‘s Ann Wilson, “Weird Al” Yankovic and many others. Proceeds will go toSweet Relief, an organization dedicated to offering “financial assistance to all types of career musicians who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability, or age-related problems.”
