I don't think the presumption was that they were recording as the plans for the live album have been announced. That explains why Eddie has been seen in and out of the studio.

I remember that guitar he's holding from a show they did at the Whisky in Hollywood sometime around 1977. It may have been brand new then (btw, they opened for Lance Loud and the Mumps that night).
