This week, Conan is paying tribute to George Harrison with a series of musicians covering highlights from his plentiful solo and Beatles-related back catalog. On Monday, Beckkicked off the salute with a jangly take on 1970’s “Wah Wah”. Tonight, however, Paul Simon paid homage to his friend and collaborator with a rendition of “Here Comes The Sun” from The Beatles’ Abbey Road. Watch below.
Harrison and Simon actually performed the track together on Saturday Night Live back in 1976. Here’s what it looked like then.
Conan’s George Harrison Week continues Wednesday night with Harrison’s son. Dhani, and wraps up with Norah Jones on Thursday. The performances coincide with the release of a new box set, George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-1975, which compiles the musician’s first six solo albums along with unreleased live recordings and demos. It’s out this week via Capitol Records.
