Bob Dylan will release his 36th studio album next year, called “Shadows in the Night.” The announcement was tucked away in the iconic musician’s new box set, “The Basement Tapes Complete.” While not much more information is known about the new set, Rolling Stone speculates that it’ll be a cover’s album, based on the Sinatra track “Full Moon and Empty Arms” released earlier this year, and the fact that Dylan’s been closing his shows recently with another tune made famous by Sinatra, “Stay With Me.”
Dylan’s currently on tour, playing midsize theaters in the U.S. His last studio release was 2012′s “Tempest,” which reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200. That’s not to say Dylan fans haven’t been treated to music in the last three years. His ongoing “Bootleg Series” has been fruitful in the last two years, with 2013′s Volume 10 “Another Self Portrait” culling outtakes and demos from 1969 – 1971 and the aforementioned “Basement Tapes” box set, which featured rare versions of his work with The Band in the late ’60s.
